Datum Connect · proactive home care
Your boiler tells us before it tells you.
Datum Connect is a home looked after by your own engineer. Your boiler, heating, hot water and safety devices — monitored 24/7 by the people who installed them. When something needs attention, we already know. Often we've sorted it before you'd have noticed.
How it works
Fitted once. Watching always.
Fitted at your service
The sensor kit goes in at the same visit as your install, repair or service — by the engineer who now knows your system inside out.
It watches, 24/7
Pressure, fault codes, efficiency, CO and leaks — all monitored on our own platform, working even if your broadband drops.
It alerts us first
When something drifts — a slow pressure drop, a fault code — we see it before you're standing in a cold house.
We act
Remote triage, and where a visit's needed we auto-book and attend in-SLA. Often it's sorted before you'd have noticed.
We monitor and alert — we never remotely change safety-critical settings, and monitoring never replaces your annual Gas Safe service and physical safety check. It supports the service; it doesn't replace it.
Isn't this just a smart thermostat?
No — it does a different job.
Hive, Nest and Tado are genuinely good thermostats — gadgets you operate to set your heating. Datum Connect is us operating: whole-system monitoring plus a real engineer who watches, triages and turns up. You can buy a smart thermostat off Amazon; you can't buy someone who notices the problem for you and arrives before the cold morning. Already got a Tado or Nest? Connect works alongside it — we simply add the monitoring-and-response layer on top.
| Capability | Smart thermostat (Hive / Nest / Tado) | Datum Connect |

| Catches a slow leak / pressure drop early | ||
| CO + leak/flood safety alerts | ||
| Remote diagnostics = fewer, faster visits | ||

And it isn't boiler cover either. Cover plans are a phone number you ring after it breaks; Connect stops the surprise in the first place — and if a visit is needed, it's your engineer who comes, already knowing what's wrong. It's a service & maintenance contract, not insurance.
The kit
A small, quiet kit — doing a big job.
Proven, off-the-shelf sensors, fitted at your service. Four of them do things no off-the-shelf smart thermostat does — that's the bit marked below.
Local edge hub
The brain of the kit, fitted in your home. It reads every sensor and keeps working even if your broadband drops — so your heating never depends on someone else's cloud.
System-pressure sensor
Watches your heating pressure and spots a slow leak one to two weeks early — the fault that would otherwise leave you cold in January. No off-the-shelf smart thermostat does this.
CO alarm (Aico HomeLINK)
A proper carbon-monoxide alarm that isn't just a beeper on the wall — it's a live data point. If your boiler ever produces CO, you and your engineer know in seconds.
Leak / flood sensors
Placed under the boiler and cylinder. They catch water before it reaches your floor or ceiling — and alert us the moment they do.
OpenTherm / modulating control
Lets your boiler run smarter, not harder — modulating to the temperature you actually need instead of blasting on and off. That's the efficiency you paid for.
Smart room sensors & TRVs
Per-room temperature control so you stop paying to heat empty rooms. Added on the Managed and Total tiers for whole-home comfort.
AC / heat-pump monitoring
For air conditioning and heat pumps: runtime, efficiency (COP) and refrigerant-health trends, so we catch a struggling unit before it fails — attended by an F-Gas-certified engineer.
Buy the kit outright
Own the hardware, pay your monthly plan on the lower band, and stay month-to-month with no lock-in. The exact kit price is confirmed at your free survey.
Hardware free on a 3-year term
£0 upfront — the kit is included and its cost is carried in a slightly higher monthly band over a 36-month term. Ideal if you'd rather spread it.
We never quote a kit price we haven't confirmed on your home — your exact hardware price is fixed in writing at the free survey, along with your plan.

Part of the whole home
Every install can be a connected one.
Enrol at your service
New boiler, air con, repair or annual service — the kit often goes in on the same visit. One conversation on the day, no separate appointment.
AC & heat pumps too
Runtime, efficiency and refrigerant-health, attended by an F-Gas engineer.
Service included
Managed & Total include your annual service — the one you'd pay for anyway.
Heat-pump grants
The honest answer — what qualifies, what doesn't, no bait.
Your engineer, watching
The same person who fitted it keeps an eye on it. No call-centre rota.
Datum Connect, plainly
Is this boiler cover / insurance?↓
No. Datum Connect is a service and maintenance contract — monitoring, an included annual service (on Managed and above), priority attendance and agreed labour rates. It isn't insurance and doesn't indemnify you against the cost of every possible repair; where parts or non-included work are needed you get a clear quote at member rates first. The point is that monitoring prevents most of the call-outs a cover plan is pricing for.
Isn't it the same as a Hive or Nest?↓
No — a smart thermostat is a gadget you operate to set your heating. Connect is whole-system monitoring plus an engineer who watches it, triages a problem and turns up. If you already have a Tado or Nest, Connect works alongside it and adds the monitoring-and-response layer on top.
What does it actually catch?↓
Slow pressure drops (often a leak one to two weeks early), boiler fault and lockout codes, efficiency drift, CO, and water leaks — before they become a cold house or a flooded floor. On the higher tiers it also tracks per-room comfort and, where fitted, your cylinder and air conditioning.
Does it work if my broadband drops?↓
Yes. The kit controls and monitors locally on a hub in your home, so your heating keeps running even when the internet doesn't. Connectivity only affects the remote alerts — the home keeps working regardless.
How much is the hardware?↓
The kit is fitted at your service and you can either buy it outright (month-to-month, no lock-in) or have it free on a 3-year term with the cost spread into your monthly plan. We confirm your exact hardware price in writing at the free survey — we never quote a figure we haven't checked on your home.
What's monitored on each plan?↓
Monitor (£12.99) watches pressure, faults, CO and leaks and alerts you. Managed (£27.99) gets the alert first, auto-books and attends, and includes your annual service. Total/Comfort (£42.99) adds multi-appliance cover, full comfort control and the fastest SLA. Landlord (£17.99/property) is compliance-grade with CP12/EICR/L8 tracking and a monthly audit PDF.
