Privacy Policy

What we collect

• When you enquire or book: your name, phone, email, postcode/address, and the details you give us about the job (e.g. what heating you have).
• When you use the price calculator: the answers you enter (property type, rooms, etc.) and the estimate produced.
• Automatically: anonymous usage data — an app-generated ID, pages viewed, approximate device/browser, and referral source. With your consent this includes analytics and advertising cookies (see the Cookie Policy).
• If you contact our assistant or by phone/message: the content of that conversation, so we can help and follow up.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To quote, survey and carry out work you've asked for — lawful basis: performance of a contract / steps to enter one.
• To keep you updated about your job (confirmations, appointment texts) — contract / legitimate interests.
• To improve the website and understand what's useful — legitimate interests (analytics, done proportionately) or consent where cookies are involved.
• Marketing (helpful emails/texts, and showing you our ads) — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Every message has an easy opt-out.
• Legal and safety obligations (e.g. gas safety records) — legal obligation.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data. We use trusted providers who process it on our behalf, under contract:

• Hosting & database — our website host and Supabase (secure data storage).
• Email & SMS — providers that deliver our confirmations and messages.
• Analytics & advertising (with your consent) — Google and Meta, to measure and to show relevant ads. Any data used to match you to an ad audience is hashed.
• Payments — a regulated payment provider handles card details; we never store your full card number.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and job records only as long as needed for the work, our legal obligations (e.g. certificates, tax), and reasonable follow-up — then we delete or anonymise. Anonymous analytics data is retained on a rolling basis.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@datumclimate.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
